In a significant breakthrough for Nigeria’s energy sector, MG VOWGAS Limited has successfully completed a critical Regenerative Heat Treatment project for the Geregu Power Plant.
According to Onome Amugeh, the manager of business development and strategic partnerships at MG VowGas Ldt, this milestone demonstrates the capability of Nigerian Indigenous companies to manage complex engineering projects, contributing to local content development and innovation within the energy sector.
He mentioned that the esteemed Group Managing Director of MG VowGas Group, Mr Godwin Izomor, is passionate about delivering solutions with global standards.
“He has invested in several personnel by sending them overseas for training and also getting the latest technological innovations and equipment,” he emphasised.
This solution from the PWHT Furnace at MG VowGas Group has saved time and cost associated with international logistics, strengthened the Naira by retaining foreign exchange, and also boosted local content development.
Geregu Power is one of Nigeria’s leading power-generating companies, contributing about 10 percent to Nigeria’s total electricity generation. This is a welcome development In such a time when we have experienced constant epileptic power in our nation.
Previously, Nigeria heavily relied on foreign nations for heat treatment processes due to the lack of local capacity for large-scale projects. An example of this occurred during the Egina FPSO Project in 2016 when one of the largest pressure vessels had to be treated in South Korea.
